TOUCH and Go Theatre Company is back with 'Improbable Fiction', a sharp and imaginative comedy by Alan Ayckbourn.

The setting, on a cold winter's evening, is the home of mild-mannered, middle-aged mother's boy, Arnold; chair of the local Writer's Circle and author of instruction booklets. He is joined by five more aspiring writers for a discussion of their work. Among them are writers of historical romance and children's literature who are finding it difficult to start writing, and a crime writer who can't stop. A creator of extremely complicated science fiction and a librettist without a musical partner make up the rest of the team.

Arnold attempts to get the rest of the group out of a rut by suggesting that they collaborate on a piece of writing, an idea that is received without enthusiasm. However, as Arnold is clearing up after the meeting there is a clap of thunder, a black-out - and then the story that would have resulted from the collaboration takes places before his very eyes.

Now in its 19th year, Touch and Go is no stranger to comedy. From the first production, 'Nunsense the Musical', to the groundbreaking first amateur presentation of 'Waiting for Henry' and now, several Ayckbourn's later, 'Improbable Fiction', the company has been well rehearsed in making audiences laugh out loud.

Frank Tobin, in his second Ayckbourn production with Touch and Go, takes on the hilarious role of the bewildered Arnold, and is joined by a cast of returning favourites and eager newcomers for this entertaining presentation of committee-based satire and character-centred comedy.

Producing everything from high drama to morality plays to musicals and beyond, Touch and Go enjoys a strong relationship with the community, having taken part in projects varying from assisting in the examination of Doctors through role-play to taking productions on tour across the county. The company has organised and performed at several concerts in aid of local and national charities, most recently raising £1,000 for the ITU Unit at Withybush hospital.

Touch and Go is delighted to present 'Improbable Fiction' at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, from February 12-14, at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available at the Box Office.
