FOLLOWING the enormous success of 'The Ghosts of Ruddigore' and 'HMS Pinafore', Opera della Luna return to The Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, with the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan operetta - 'The Mikado', on Monday, April 5, and Offenbach's irreverent satire 'La Belle Helene' on Tuesday, April 6.

'The Mikado': Ko-Ko, a cheap tailor, who has been sentenced to death for excessive flirting, is unexpectedly released and made Lord High Executioner of Titipu. He plans to marry one of his models, the stunning Yum-Yum, and dresses his bride and her friends (and indeed most of the citizens of Titipu) in his own extraordinary fashions.

Preparations for the wedding are well in hand when a mysterious and extremely attractive young trombonist arrives in town, hot for Yum-Yum. She is fascinated by him and his instrument but matters become considerably more complicated when the true identity of the sexy trombonist is revealed...

In 1885, Gilbert costumed his Japanese opera with exquisite Oriental fabrics from Liberty's - daring, exotic and the height of fashion. Opera della Luna's new adaptation looks to the world of Versace and Jean-Paul Gautier, promising a riot of gorgeous and bizarre creations - sequins, stunning gowns, glamour, glorious singing and of course the company's own inimitable brand of mad-cap humour!

'La Belle Helene': Helen of Troy - the face that launched a thousand ships and the most beautiful woman in the world!  No wonder a lusty young stud like Paris, son of King Priam, is determined to carry her off and make her his own - even if by doing so he starts the Trojan War!

Offenbach's irreverent burlesque of classical legend caused a scandal when it first appeared. Not only did it poke fun at the sacred classics, but it savagely satirised contemporary society, the government and the church.

Opera della Luna's new version for the 21st Century is equally irreverent and merciless in its micky-taking.

Fizz, fun, French foolery and fetish gear from the UK's most inventive small opera company.
