THEATR Genedlaethol Cymru, the new Welsh-language national touring theatre company, will hold its South Wales premiere at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, on Thursday, April 29.

Yn Debyg Iawn i Ti a Fi by Meic Povey, described as a "gritty contemporary play of family turmoil staged in a dynamic, theatrical style", features a strong cast of well-known Welsh actors under the direction of Theatr Genedlaethol's artistic director, Cefin Roberts.

The actor/singer Bryn Fon, and Siw Hughes (Pobol y Cwm's Cath) are both household names in Wales, and Gwenno Hodgkins will be familiar to followers of S4C drama. Glyn Pritchard, in the lead role of the schizophrenic son in the play, has appeared in the Torch productions of Neville's Island in 1998 and Abigail's Party in 1999, and is best known to many as Brookside's loveable rogue, Christy.

"This very powerful play, which deals with the main character's future following the death of the mother, is both a challenge and a joy to us as a company," according to Cefin Roberts. "We are delighted to hold our first ever South Wales performance at the Torch, especially with such a strong cast, and with a piece by such an eminent writer."

Yn Debyg Iawn i Ti runs for three nights, from Thursday, April 29 to Saturday, May 1. The Friday evening performance features a special, free of charge pre-show session for Welsh-learners where the attenders will be given an insight into the play, and will see key scenes acted out, on the set, in English. Tickets cost £8 (£6 concessions) and are available by calling the Box Office on 01646 695267.
