Paul Webb, of Whitland, has been maintaining a record of individual batting and bowling performances in Division One throughout the season. The figures up to the end of July make interesting reading. Webb himself leads the list of batsmen, with 514 runs at an average of 42.83, followed closely by David Davies, of Haverfordwest, with 505 runs at an average of 45.9 and Cresselly's Simon Cole is in third place with 496 runs at the higher average of 62. The bowling table is headed by Simon Williams, of Haverfordwest, with 32 wickets at an average of 11.06. Rob Williams, of Lawrenny, has taken the same number of wickets at an average of 12.84 and Neyland spinner Phil Davies is in third place with 30 wickets at an average of 9.16. At present, Rob Williams, of Lawrenny, is the only player to feature in the top three this season and last season. At the end of last season, Carew's Ian Sefton led the batting table, followed by Phil Kirkby, of Haverfordwest, and Daniel Sutton, of Lamphey, while Robert Scourfield, of Carew, led the bowling, followed by Haverfordwest spinner Mathew Johns, with Rob Williams in third place. This season, Ian Sefton has missed most of the league programme through injury, although he is back in top form now, Phil Kirkby still features in the top 20, but in eighth position with 351 runs at an average of 39, and Daniel Sutton is no longer playing cricket in Pembrokeshire, as he joined Morriston at the start of the season. Robert Scourfield, of Carew, is in the top 20 bowling, but at present in 16th position with 20 wickets at an average of 18.38, and Mathew Johns is in 10th position with 20 wickets at an average of 16.90. A number of players feature in both the batting and the bowling top 20, namely Paul Webb, of Whitland, Lyn Richards, of Cresselly, Jonathon Pawlett and Steven Williams, of St. Ishmaels, Simon Wood, of Carew, and Phil Davies, of Neyland. As might be expected, the leading Division One clubs are well represented in both tables. Division One leaders Haverfordwest have David Davies, Karl Rhead and David Potter in the batting table and there are four bowlers in the bowling list, Simon Williams, Mathew Johns, Clive Tucker and Stephen Phillips. Second placed Carew have Simon Wood and Brian Hall in the batting, with Simon Wood, Darren Thomas, John Canton and Robert Scourfield all in the bowling tables. Third placed Cresselly have four batsmen in the top 20, namely Simon Cole, Lyn Richards, Julian Arthur and Damian Arthur, but only two bowlers, Lyn Richards and Ryan Lewis. Bottom club Lamphey are not represented in either table and the other club doomed to relegation, Burton, has two batsmen, Richard Scriven and Steve Jones, but no bowlers represented . No doubt there will be some changes before the end of the season and Observer Sport will keep readers up to date with the position when the final figures have been prepared by Paul Webb.
