Pembrokeshire's youth support services are among the best in Wales!
A newly-published report by Estyn - the Welsh Education Inspectorate - paints a glowing picture of youth support services across the county.
The report says support and guidance for young people in Pembrokeshire is very good and youngsters receive consistently high levels of support and care from experienced and professional staff.
Young people have good access to a wide range of effective learning, leisure and support services, while youth support services target individual needs - such as those for young people with disabilities and those requiring specialist provision - well.
The report comments that a greater proportion of young people in Pembrokeshire gain accreditation through their work with youth support services than in other areas across Wales.
Estyn also found that the quality of strategic planning, the leadership by Pembrokeshire County Council and its partners, and the commitment to partnership working by youth support services was outstanding.
The quality of leadership and strategic management of youth support services in Pembrokeshire was awarded a Grade1 - the first time this grade has been awarded anywhere in Wales in the current inspection cycle.
The report also praised the strong leadership and commitment of the Children and Young People's Partnership and the agencies involved and found that Pembrokeshire youth support services provide good value for money.
Clr. Huw George, cabinet member for children, young people, learning and the Welsh language said the report was 'outstanding' and recognised the energy and dedication of staff across all Pembrokeshire's youth services, both statutory and voluntary, in providing first class support to the county's young people.
"The report highlights the good progress that has been made in improving outcomes in all services for young people in recent years," he said.
"These very positive findings are a reflection of, and a worthy tribute to the commitment of all staff, schools, services and elected Members associated with the Children and Young People's Partnership in Pembrokeshire," he said.
