Pembrokeshire's top ranking policeman was invited to County Hall recently.
Chief Superintendent Dean Richards from Haverfordwest retired from the force this month after 30 years service.
To mark the end of his long and distinguished career, the county council's chairman, Clr. David Pugh invited him to a special reception.
Clr. Pugh presented the Chief Superintendent with a county council plaque and thanked him for his years of service on behalf of the people of Pembrokeshire.
Chief Superintendent Richards, whose father Geoff was also in the force, began his career with Dyfed Powys Police in 1990.
After serving in Brecon, Haverfordwest, Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock, he returned to Haverfordwest as Chief Inspector before being appointed Chief Superintendent and Commander of the Pembrokeshire Division.
Married with two grown-up children, he now intends to take a break before seeking another career role.
