Last Friday night, Diabetes UK Cymru held an annual presentation evening for volunteer groups at the Angel Hotel, Cardiff.
Mrs. Gaynor Stephens from Saundersfoot, who is the secretary of the Tenby and District Branch of Diabetes UK Cymru, took top honours when she was presented with the prestigious Harry Secombe Award for the top volunteer of the year.
Gaynor is pictured receiving her award from Mr. Dai Williams, the director of Diabetes UK Cymru.
Gaynor was one of the founder members of the Tenby and District Branch, which has been running for the past 27 years, the last 10 of which Gaynor has been secretary.
Although Tenby group is one of the smallest groups in Wales, it was once again the biggest fund-raiser.
This year, they were able to present a cheque for £7,250, which included money raised during the walk around Llys-y-fran, the Saundersfoot Swim, quizzes, coffee mornings, treasure hunts, bucket collections etc.
The group would like to thank everyone who has supported them and given so generously over the past year; without you, none of this would have been possible.
Also honoured with gold lapel badges were Mike and Maureen Worcester for their contribution in organising the walk and taking part in the New Year's Day Swim etc., while Edward and Kathryn Harries also received lapel badges for all the hard work they have put in over the years.
