GUNNER Daisy Coleman, from Tenby, has just won a top award in the Army. Daisy was joint winner of the Royal Artillery's Learning Centre Learner of the Year Award 2006.

This award is given to the most active user of a Regimental Army Learning Centre, where soldiers can gain IT qualifications and study a variety of courses through learndirect. The individual will have demonstrated significant achievement in personal development. The prize in each case is £250 to the individual and £100 to the regiment. Daisy received her award held by the RA CPD last month at the Headquarters of the Royal Artillery, in Larkhill, Wiltshire.

Daisy Coleman has one of the most impressive records of personal development in the history of the Royal Artillery Personal Development Awards. During 2006, she completed an apprenticeship in telecommunications, an NVQ level 2 in driving goods vehicles and an NVQ level 2 and intermediate certificate in racehorse care.

Since March 2006, she has completed no fewer than 11 courses at her local Regimental Army Learning Centre. These have ranged from adult literacy and numeracy to European computer driving licence. She has also been active in supporting and encouraging others in her unit to enrol on courses at the Learning Centre.

A truly admirable and energetic individual!
