A local builder, T. Adams and Son of Narberth, has claimed the top prize in the best small renovation project category in the Welsh Master Builder of the Year Awards 2005. T. Adams and Son were chosen for their conversion of a disused 19th century farm building into a rustic holiday cottage. The winning company was selected from hundreds of entries in the fiercely contested competition, part of a nationwide search by The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) for the best builders in Britain - all of whom are nominated by their highly satisfied customers. Homeowners Mr. and Mrs. Stephens praised T. Adams and Son for their excellent support and customer service. The cottage has many individual features that include an inglenook stone fireplace, and Lancelot 'arrow slits' that have been converted to windows with coloured glass. The builders have incorporated old stone into the rear extension, used reclaimed timber for the beams and refurbished the roof with Welsh slate. T. Adams and Son will represent Wales in the UK final of the Master Builder of the Year Awards, the winners of which will be announced and presented with their awards by Sarah Beeny of Channel 4's Property Ladder on Thursday, September 8.
