Sir,

My wife and I have recently returned from Tenby having cut our stay short due to my terrible toothache.

We travelled down to Tenby on Tuesday, September 24, when I developed toothache.

Having arrived at our hotel, The Broadmead, at 1 pm, we decided to walk into town to have a look around and have some lunch.

Unfortunately, my toothache got progressively worse, I therefore asked the proprietor of the cafe where I could find a dentist in Tenby. She gave me the directions to three dentists within easy walking distance.

You can imagine my disappointment when I was informed by each dental practice that they were fully booked and could not even examine my teeth, even though it was an emergency.

One practice did say they could see me the following day - if they had a cancellation.

I therefore decided to stay one night and return to Neath early the following morning, taking painkillers to ease the pain.

I am writing you this letter to inform you there is no emergency treatment at your Tenby dental practices, whether private or NHS, and perhaps future holidaymakers should be made aware of this and have their teeth examined before holidaying in Tenby.

By the way, I am now having treatment at my Neath practice. To date I have had one tooth removed on the morning of September 25, and another which has an infection is being treated.

A disappointed and suffering holidaymaker.
