Sir,
With reference to the present parking problems in our towns, created by Pembrokeshire County Council traffic enforcement officers.
As they are self-funding, I would suggest that all drivers do their very best to avoid getting parking tickets for as long as is possible. The result would be no income to fund the operation; by month two they would start to think about a different strategy, and by month three they would have to think about laying-off staff!
I don't condone dangerous parking or law-breaking, but as we all know, a little tolerance or word of advice would not go amiss.
Apart from shopkeepers suffering, those who unfortunately receive £70 tickets will, and are becoming anti-establishment, and it is probably becoming the most talked about topic at present.
I have yet to see congestion caused by bad parking in Haverfordwest. I am sure someone will no doubt put my suggestions down.
Philip Jenkins,
Haverfordwest.
