The timing of repair work being carried out over the summer to the harbourmaster office at Tenby harbour has again been questioned by local councillors.
Councillors had questioned the fact that Pembrokeshire County Council had decided to erect scaffolding around the building at the start of the summer holidays, so long after the premises was damaged by ‘Storm Brian’ last year.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, Clr. Trevor Hallett reiterated that the timing of the work hadn’t been good as it had meant that valuable parking spaces had been given up in that area to work men over this busy period.
“It’s nice to see that the work is being carried out - but better planning could have been given, not in the middle of the holiday season!” he said.
The town clerk said that he had contacted the harbours manager Sarah Edwards at Pembrokeshire County Council about the matter at the end of July, and she too was ‘just as surprised’ about the fact it had started.
“I told her on the Friday and it was halted for a couple of weeks, until we got through most of the season,” explained Mr. Davies.
