This year's Pembrokeshire Archaeology Day School takes place on Saturday, November 15, at Pembrokeshire College, Haverfordwest.
Organised by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, the annual event – now in its fifth year - is open to anyone.
Speakers will give updates on archaeological news from Pembrokeshire and further afield:
Dr. Chris Caple (University of Durham): Excavation at Nevern Castle in the National Park; the preliminary results and the future plans.
Thousands of ultra low emission vehicles registered in Pembrokeshire – as campaigners group call for more equal access across UK
Pembrokeshire takeaway handed new food hygiene rating
Dragon Darwin Experience marks 20 years with return to Roch School
Pembrokeshire car sales site to add barber shop and tanning salon by 2024Professor Geoffrey Wainwright: The SPACES project (Strumble - Preseli Ancient Communities and Environments Study), and the relationship between Stonehenge and Carn Meini, particularly in the light of this year's excavation at Stonehenge.
Tom Dawson (Shorewatch, Scotland): The work community groups are carrying out in Scotland to identify, record and interpret sites exposed by coastal erosion.
National Park Authority archaeologist Polly Groom said: "We're particularly pleased to be hearing from Tom Dawson this year about community groups' work in Scotland. Here in Pembrokeshire 'new' sites are also being discovered (and old ones being lost) through coastal erosion, so I hope volunteers will be inspired by Tom and keen to work with the National Park Authority in future."
Porthclew Cemetery, near Freshwater East, will also be on the agenda, with a talk about this year's excavation at the site by the National Park Authority, Dyfed Archaeological Trust and local volunteers.
The day will be chaired by Jeff Davies, one of the trustees of Dyfed Archaeological Trust. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Individuals or groups are invited to host displays about aspects of Pembrokeshire's history and archaeology. If you would like to take a display, call Polly Groom on 07866 771175.
The event costs £7, including lunch, and booking is essential. You can download a booking form from the National Park Authority's website http://www.pcnpa.org.uk">www.pcnpa.org.uk
