Welsh Health Minister, Edwina Hart, has launched a time-capsule to mark the start of work on the new multi-million pound urgent care centre at Withybush Hospital.

The event was attended by local Labour MP Nick Ainger and Mid and West Wales Labour AM, Alun Davies.

Nick Ainger MP said: "I am extremely proud that the development work has begun. Despite all of the rumour mongering, mentioned again as nothing but hearsay by the Minister, we can be confident that Withybush will remain the focus of health service delivery for everyone in Pembrokeshire. The new service will provide greater comfort for patients and also for the staff who do a wonderful job."

Alun Davies AM said: "The development of Withybush along with other centres across west Wales reinforces our Government's commitment to providing the whole of Wales with a first class health service. I am pleased that the Minister is working towards delivering excellent health services in rural areas using a different approach to how services are delivered in more built up areas. It is extremely important that we get the balance of services right and that rural patients feel the service is working for them."
