At the tea interval, a bench was donated by William's wife, Mrs. Marilynne Scale, and William's son, Mike, a current Narberth cricketer, in memory of William Scale.
The plaque on the bench is inscribed with the words 'In loving memory of the late William Reed Scale 1942 - 2004 gentleman and player'.
Narberth cricket club's Nick Evans, who played cricket with William, welcomed Mrs. Scale and said a few words about the late William Scale. Narberth secretary. Richard Howell. received the bench on behalf of Narberth Cricket Club.
Wales Over 50s had a few familiar names in their side, including Geoff Ellis, the former Glamorgan spin bowler, and the father of current Glamorgan wicket-keeper, Mark Wallace.
Wales Over 50s batted first and made 185 for 7 in their 40 overs. K. James was top scorer with 46, supported by B. Jones 29, A. Shephard 28 and G. Morgan 27.
Nick Evans was the pick of the Narberth bowlers with 3 for 22 from his eight overs, with support from Mike Tennick, of Neyland, with 2 for 23.
The Narberth innings got off to a good start, with experienced Peter Hall and teenager Thomas Richards. Hall was eventually run out for 26, Richards top scored with 59. Richard Adams continued where Richards had left off with a hard- hitting 43, which included a four and three big sixes.
In a tight finish, Narberth passed the score in the 39th over for the loss of four wickets. Teenager Kyle Quatermaine was 33 not out and David Johns 15 not out.
The pick of the Wales Over 50s bowling was an economical spell from opening bowler R. Walton with eight overs, no wickets, for only 12 runs. County Cricket Club secretary Geordie Fraser umpired.
