Plans for a mixed development consisting of residential flats and a ground floor retail unit in one of Tenby's historic streets were given the thumbs up this week. The application, submitted by Barkwin Ltd., was for the erection of 13 flats with 13 car parking spaces and one shop at the Coburg Garage Site, Upper Frog Street. The plans, which were approved by members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park development management committee on Tuesday, will also see the demolition of the existing buildings for the re- development of the site. While discussing the application, committee member and county councillor Michael Williams commented: "The amended design is a huge improvement on the initial plan and I believe this attractive development will enhance Frog Street." With regard to parking provision, National Park officer David Green reported: "Pembrokeshire County Council's infrastructure manager now finds the on-site parking provision to be acceptable. While the property lies within the town walls and area zoned for pedestrianisation, it is the view of officers that, whilst vehicular movements should be discouraged in this area, the fact remains that this site is being developed for 13 residential units which will create greater demand on existing parking facilities in Tenby, and therefore the provision of on-site facilities is desirable in this instance," said Mr. Green.
