Thirty-six-year-old David Phillip Strudley, who had been disqualified from driving in 1993, was also fined £150 in respect of the latest drink-drive offence, which he had admitted when he appeared before the bench the previous week.
When the matter came back before the court on Tuesday, magistrates heard that Strudley, of Green Plains Bungalow, had been stopped by police driving at Saundersfoot at approximately 2 am on August 23.
Strudley, a garage mechanic, had spoken to the police officers at Saundersfoot Harbour and had asked them for a lift home, and when they refused and told him to get a taxi, he asked to be breathalysed.
A short while later he was seen driving a Rover vehicle and when stopped by the police officers, he stated he had drunk 'two or three scotches'.
A subsequent breath test proved positive and he was conveyed to Pembroke Dock police station where an intoxiliser test revealed he was over the limit, with 47 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of breath.
As the reading was between 40 and 50 mg, Strudley was given the option to provide a blood sample for analysis. He did, and the sample showed he had 94 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg.
Strudley, who had had a 'difficult past' and had recently been released from prison where he had been serving a custodial sentence in relation to offences involving vehicles, was also ordered to pay £40 costs.
