For the remainder of August, the Small Gallery at Colby Woodland Gardens, near Amroth, will be given over to two consecutive photographic exhibitions. From August 8-21, Harry Gardiner and Ray Hine, regular stalwarts of the main gallery, will be joined by Llangwm-based Dave Wilson for 'Three of the Best'. As we have come to expect, Harry and Ray promise nothing less than 'infinite variety'. In Harry's case this can range from rock pool reflections in Tenby harbour, to studies of municipal architecture, to his humorous 'fruit faces on a plate'. Ray is not adverse to taking to the air in pursuit of the perfect over-view of Pembrokeshire, or, alternatively, he might be inclined to take a close up view of reeds on the Cleddau river, or perhaps some sand-scapes, as in his wonderful shots of the groynes on nearby Amroth beach. Dave Wilson, ever aware of his native county's quality of light, likes to capture 'hidden Pembrokeshire' in all its different moods. There are wind-swept beaches, stormy skies and romantic sunsets, all subjects full of atmosphere and drama. Harry and Ray will be in the gallery on Tuesdays August 9 and 16 and Sundays August 14 and 21, to meet the public and discuss their work, so, budding photographers, go and see the exhibition, and ask the experts for advice while you're there. For those with young families, every Thursday throughout the main holiday season is a fun day at Colby, with special activities laid on to keep the children happy while parents enjoy the gardens. Gardens, gallery, tearooms and National Trust shop are open daily from 10 am - 5 pm.
