The month of June sees three new exhibitions opening at Oriel Q Gallery, Queen's Hall, Narberth. The well-known and much-awarded Cardiff based artist Brendan Burns, who concentrates his subject matter on the Pembrokeshire coastline, is currently showing his latest work in the main gallery. Brendan explained: "Drawing has played a more important role in my work recently; the delicate and subtle played alongside the textural and fluidity of paint and wax, help accentuate 'sensation' and 'visual touch'." Lynne Crompton, manager of Oriel Q, commented: "I'm really pleased to be able to host this exhibition of Brendan's new work, having followed his career with interest and sharing his passion for Pembrokeshire. Brendan has family living in Haverfordwest and is a regular visitor allowing him time to scour the local coast which is such a big influence in his work." He will be talking about his work at the gallery on Saturday, June 30, at 2.30 pm. He is joined in Oriel Fach by craft-maker Carol Kingsbury-Gwizdak, who crosses the boundaries between contemporary jewellery and diminutive sculpture and who won the 2006 Gold Medal for Craft and Design at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, while the photographer on the stairs this month is Gale Lewis, whose collection 'Beauty in Destruction' is based on close-ups of broken and smashed objects and detritus. Exhibitions run until Saturday, June 30. Gallery opening, Wednesday - Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm, and most Tuesdays. Telephone to check on 01834 869454.
