IT was a proud day for one local family last Sunday as three generations took part in the fundraising Race for Life at Scolton Manor.

Karen Smith was delighted to be joined by her daughter Michelle and for the first time by seven-year-old granddaughter Seren, who completed the run in a respectable time of 41 minutes.

“This was such a proud moment for me because it meant three generations of the same family running to help towards the eradication of cancer,” said Karen. “It was a very soggy day, but there were 900 runners in a sea of pink all running for their family and friends. For us it was for my mum, nan and my dad, who all lost their battles with cancer.

“I would just like to thank all those who sponsored us and if anyone would like to make a donation, either visit my just giving page or pop a donation into a FBM office, fao Karen Smith, new business manager, FBM Holidays.”
