Oakwood Park announced this week that planning permission has been received from Pembrokeshire County Council for its new ride, Plane Crazy.
A circular ride with suspended plane-like pods, Plane Crazy has rudder controls allowing a degree of ride control for the pilots.
Andrew Davies, Welsh Minister for Economic Development and Transport, said of Oakwood's aeronautical new ride: "My congratulations to Oakwood for adding yet another new ride to its growing list of attractions. Oakwood is undoubtedly one of Wales' premier tourist attractions and I'm sure this new Plane Crazy ride will be a soaraway success!"
Paddy McNamara, managing director at Oakwood Park, was keen to point out the value of investing in Plane Crazy, stating: "Having introduced a number of white knuckle rides in recent years, it is vital that as we continue to invest in Oakwood we aim to grow all areas of the park. The value of this new investment to visitors is by providing a ride suitable for all ages and by increasing our range of family rides."
Work has begun on the installation of Plane Crazy and will be completed in time for the official opening at the start of the 2004 season on Saturday, April 3.
