The Tivyside Hunt who cover parts of three counties, but mostly north Pembrokeshire retained their usual measure of public support for their annual point to point steeplechases on Sunday.

This despite the organisers having to relocate from the excellent Cilwendeg 'home'course to Lydstep Haven - due to Government livestock movement restrictions in force at Boncath.

On a truly superb afternoon with the going rated to be mostly good it again proved a rewarding afternoon for local teenage jockey, John Mathias, who rode three winners for the second time in less than a week.

Local horses and trainers also recorded pleasing results, not least Richard Nicholas, of Lodor Fawr, Clynderwen, whose very promising seven-year-old bay mare, Casey's Tiles, trained by Beverley Thomas with Kylie Yates on board romped home in the Intermediate chase.

Largest field of the day with 14 runners was the last on the card, the Confined Maiden won by the Pentyrch qualifier and 5-4 favourite, the chestnut gelding Chandlers Cross, under Dai Jones.
