AN unusual and illustrated talk is being organised by the Friends of Pembrokeshire National Park at their open meeting on February 24, at Haverfordwest Library, starting at 7.30 pm.
Local photographer, Jessa Fairbrother has embarked on a project, which will be a photographic documentation and exhibition of memorial plaques found on benches along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
There are estimated to be 150 benches along the path bearing inscriptions and dedications and these will be photographed together with the view from each bench. An important element will be to include text about the person to whom the plaque is dedicated and the family members who have erected them. The project will therefore not only capture the spectacular views and scenery, but it will record a huge piece of Pembrokeshire history as a social document.
The importance of the project has been recognised by the Arts Council of Wales who are part-funding the work together with help from the Friends of Pembrokeshire National Park.
It is planned to mount exhibitions of the completed work across Pembrokeshire later in the year and the talk on February 24 will be an opportunity to take an advanced look at Jessa Fairbrother's work and enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat with the artist.
