There’s an exciting new event on the South Pembrokeshire calendar.
A group has come together from the communities of both Tenby and Saundersfoot to organise the very first 5km TenFoot Charity Sea Swim.
Aptly named, because it starts in TENby and finishes in SaundersFOOT, the challenge is the brainchild of local fundraiser and postman, Chris Williams, who has a wealth of experience in being involved in fundraising events.
He has brought together a group of individuals who have experience in not only being involved in the organising of similar events, but also, a number have taken part in numerous national Ironman, triathlon and sea swim events.
Chris and friends wanted to organise something that would appeal to people as being exciting, challenging and also helping to raise awareness and money for two extremely important charities.
The nominated charities, Rory Rogers, of Saundersfoot, and the blood cancer charity, Bloodwise, mean a lot to the group and they are hoping they can do something that may make a difference.
The 5km swim is to be held on Saturday, June 3, and will set off from Goscar Rock on Tenby’s North Beach, rounding Monkstone Point and finishing on Saundersfoot beach.
This is not a race, but more of a challenge, say the organisers.
People who wish to enter are asked to express their interest online by visiting the website - http://www.tenfootswim.co.uk - but only on the understanding that the appropriate levels of training will have been undertaken to take on such a challenge.
