A group of young people from Pembroke School are learning about the benefits of recycling.

They have been taking part in a series of 'Minging to Blinging' workshops with Narberth-based Scrapyard Textiles.

In an age of throw-away culture, the Scrapyard aims to encourage sustainability in the textiles industry.

The students have been visiting local charity shops to purchase old clothes which they then customise.

Plain clothes are thus transformed into colourful, unique fashion outfits, such as transforming plastic bin bags into a tutu.

Other activities planned include making a collage from recycled materials, glass painting used bottles and jars and tie-dying old clothes.

The workshops are funded by Pembrokeshire's Youth Bank.
