Sir,
We are blessed to live in the seventh year of the millennium. It was on the seventh day of God's creation that he rested, giving all green plants as food in his own image.
God would not have sanctioned any ubiquitous tradition on any of his seven-day creation and, seeing all was good, he rested on the seventh day, a Sunday, always held as the sabbath day.
There are two seven-day months in the 2007 calendar, January (this week) and October, where the first week is indicated up to the Sunday. Perhaps we should not lose sight of all Sundays intervening.
A day of rest, contemplation for individual or family togetherness. The seed of his creation, we are indeed blessed to follow his love.
Miss Y. M. Nicholl BSYA (Veg Th),
Cartref, Penally.
