Pembroke Dock’s Station Inn is under new management.
Nicola Dean and Stephen John have taken over the unique premises at Hawkstone Road and extend and warm welcome to customers old and new.
“Our aim is to continue to provide the community with a local place to visit where they feel at home and can continue to enjoy the standard of food that they have all been used to, as well as encouraging the live music and supporting local bands,” said Nicola who decided to take over the pub after visiting it for food and finding it was up for lease and under threat of closure unless anyone took it on.
“We feel very grateful we have had the opportunity to keep the heart of the Station Inn alive.”
Open seven days a week, the Station Inn is very much a community pub with traditional values at it’s heart - there’s no wifi so the art of conversation rules!
Homemade meals are served lunchtime and evenings with a wide ranging menu created by chefs Stephen, Andrew and Gareth to suit all tastes.
At lunchtime, there is a choice of tastily filled sandwiches and baguettes, as well as traditional favourites like beef bourguignon, steak and ale pie, beef lasagne, boiled ham and parsley sauce, ham and egg, and liver and bacon casserole.
In the evening, the menu features starters such as homemade soup, prawn cocktail, pate and toast, garlic mushrooms, and chicken goujons.
There’s a grill section - steak, gammon, surf and turf - plus fish dishes and main meals like pork steaks with cider, honey and mustard pork, garlic chicken, Hunters chicken, and coq a leekie.
In addition, there’s a spicy selection of chillis and curries, plus choice of salads and the Station Inn’s very own burger platform - will you be man enough to try the station stack? Two burgers (chicken or beef or combo, bacon, cheese and onion rings served with lettuce and tomato).
And if you still can’t decide what to choose, there’s always a weekly specials board.
Vegetarian dishes, plus a children’s menu also feature, while a selection of mouthwatering desserts will round off your meal.
Wednesday night is curry night, while Friday night is always steak and grill night - served with a bottle of house wine. Choose from steak, gammon, surf and turf, or chicken breast served with onion rings, mushrooms, grilled tomato, £24.95 for two people.
There’s always live music on Saturday evenings, and on Sundays, the carvery is proving extremely popular. There’s a choice of three slow roasted meats - beef, pork and turkey, plus vegetables and all the trimmings for £8.95 or with pudding £11.95. Booking is advisable.
Stephen, Andrew and Gareth make no secret about the fact they love food and enjoy sharing their passion of cooking with customers.
All dishes are homemade using fresh local produce.
A freehouse, the Station Inn has a well-stocked bar. There’s always four ales on tap, including guest ales, plus a comprehensive wine list, all the usual spirits and wide range soft drinks.
Indeed, with the Station Inn’s location - why not leave the car at home and travel by train? See www.thetrainline.com for timetables.
The Station Inn is open from 11.30 am - 2.30 pm daily and from 6.30 until closing. Meals are served from 12 noon - 2.30 pm and 6.30-8.30 pm.
During the afternoons, the Station Inn is available for private functions for all occasions between the hours of 3-6 pm and light buffet menus can be tailor-made to suit individual requirements and budget.
Nicola and Stephen would like to like all their customers for their support and help since taking over the Station Inn, particularly John Flynn and Barry Church.
