There was a magical atmosphere at Cresswell Quay on Friday when the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot held their annual pig roast there in idyllic weather conditions. The sun was shining and the gentle breeze helped boats to navigate the waterways to the Quay with an evening high tide. As well as boats, families arrived by car, foot and bicycle. The conditions all came together to create an enjoyable occasion for all. As well as a genuine pig roast, there were beef burgers and cakes for sale. For those that weren't hungry, there was the bookstall, spin the wheel competition and duck race. The duck race created a colourful spectacle as they cruised along, with the outgoing tide, towards the Quay and the watching crowd near the finish line. The race was made even more interesting when one of the canoeists was upended after the race to cheers from spectators, but it didn't take long for him to drip dry. Winners of the duck race prizes were Caroline Ball, Graham Champ and Rob Talboys. President Neil Sefton was delighted with the support from the public on the night and expressed his thanks and best wishes to pub licensees John and Colin for allowing the Rotary Club to use their excellent facilities in the Quay car park. The profits raised at the event will be used to support work by the Rotarians in the local community and International Projects such as Polio eradication.
