The new art exhibition ‘The Power of Pembrokeshire’ by the VC Gallery, will officially open at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery tomorrow (Saturday).
The exhibition features work from a project funded by the Sustainable Development Fund in conjunction with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and the Welsh Government.
The exhibition will be formally opened by Tegryn Jones, the park authority’s chief executive.
Sponsored by Valero, the exhibition features art work by participants in the project, who come from a wide variety of backgrounds including veterans and their families, members of the gypsy and traveling community, school groups, people living with dementia and those who are socially isolated, under the umbrella of the VC gallery, a volunteer charity that connects veterans and the community through arts and creative engagement.
Gallery founder and leader Barry John MBE said: “This has been a really interesting project. We took each group to four locations – Whitesands, Rosebush, West Angle Bay and Monk Haven – touching base with the natural beauty, geology and archaeology of the area, inspiring people to create their own artwork.
“I am always surprised by the amount of artistry in everyone.”
Museum Curator Mark Lewis said: “We are so pleased to be hosting the work of this amazing charity and to allow the hard work that they do to have a public space for all to see and enjoy.
“We have worked with the VC Gallery on many projects over the past few years and will continue to support the work that they do for the community.”
The exhibition will run until February 1 before being put on display in the VC gallery’s Haverfordwest locations.
