Share your ideas and talents and let your imagination run riot to help tell the story of Pembroke and create a lasting legacy for the town. Local sculptor Perryn Butler has been commissioned by Pembroke 21C Community Association Ltd to produce a series of sculptures which will illustrate the stories of Pembroke. This project is just one aspect of the planned museum for the town, to be called The Pembroke Story. Perryn's sculptures will be a series of carved stone reliefs that will tell the history of Pembroke pictorially and which will be housed in the museum with bronze replicas on the Town Trail. Perryn's inspiration for the sculptures will come from the people of Pembroke who are invited to contribute in weekly workshops to take place at the town's Eastgate Centre, East End Square, beginning on Tuesday, February 21, at 7.30 pm. In addition to the workshops, Perryn has already been busy visiting local schools encouraging the children to become involved in this important community project. The work produced will be exhibited in the town in July with prizes for the school contributions. Born and brought up in Pembroke, Perryn is a great ambassador for the town and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the people of Pembroke to create something that they have helped plan. "I think that between us we can come up with choices that will allow Pembroke people to be pleased and enjoy ownership of the sculptures but also attract visitors and put Pembroke on the sculpture map of Great Britain, " she said.
