Sir,
Please correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a rapturous round of celebratory self-patting on the back by Tenby council when it was agreed that the protective metal hoardings surrounding the Gatehouse demolition site were to be moved to allow safer pedestrian access on the pavement facing North Beach, as reported in the Tenby Observer several weeks ago?
Furthermore, wasn't there some kind of agreement that this work should be conducted in good time for the all-important tourist holiday season?
Again, please correct me if I'm delusional, but as at August 11 and approximately halfway into the school holiday peak season, nothing appears to have happened to 'Tenby's worst landmark'.
The condition of the metal hoardings deteriorates as numerous late-night revellers continue to 'bounce' off them late into the night.
The pavement resurrection, as promised by the owner, remains in the same sorrowful state; the safety for pedestrians and motorists at the mini-roundabout junction remains perilous; the appeal for visitors to Tenby's North Beach remains at an all-time low.
So, Tenby council, when will we get our pavement, sea views and road safety back? When will the council actually enforce what they've agreed - or is this yet another case of 'bark but no bite?'
