Around 30 members and guests of the Friends of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park attended a highly-informative presentation by Marine Energy Wales (MEW) on Wednesday, February 7, at the Mariners Hotel, Haverfordwest.

Jessica Hooper, project manager at MEW, delivered a wide ranging talk covering the numerous technologies currently under development to harness wave and tidal energy as a source of sustainable electricity. She emphasised the opportunity for Pembrokeshire to become a world class centre of excellence for development, engineering, testing and deployment of marine technologies and the role of MEW in securing funding and nurturing projects to attract high technology companies into the county.

The Friends of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is an independent voluntary charity which works to protect, conserve and enhance the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park for all who live in, work or visit it. The Friends holds a wide range of events, including talks and guided walks for members, throughout the year which, where possible, are also open to the public. They also organise weekly work parties, carrying out conservation projects with the National Park Authority, National Trust and other local groups. Details of our forthcoming programme of events can be found at www.fpcnp.org.uk.
