Sir,

As residents of Tenby we are deeply concerned about the bad publicity the town is receiving concerning the binge drinkers who invade the pubs here each weekend. This has resulted in:

*Drunken persons swaying through the streets very often shouting foul language as they go.

*Outrageous, vulgar fancy dress and accessories being worn and paraded through the streets to make a statement with their compatriot drinkers.

*Shouting and disturbance going on throughout the town day and night.

*Cars being damaged, commercial shop windows smashed and petty larceny of display flowers outside domestic residences.

The reputation of the town is already in decline and this will inevitably result in the reduction of family holiday makers and the resultant loss of trade.

Also, why should we, the decent law abiding residents have to put up with the invasion of these moronic gangs?

In any case it is not illegal for licensees and their employees to serve alcohol to persons already in an advanced state of inebriation? Those greedy publicans who do so should have their licences withdrawn by the licensing magistrates.

Do the police need written complaints before they can take action? If they need public support surely there are enough people concerned to put pen to paper.

We have turned a blind eye for far too long. Let's stop the rot. Act now before it is too late!

Joy and Francis Hutchinson,

Hereford House,

Sutton Street,

Tenby.
