'MY Favourite Part of Town' opening at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery this week is an exhibition by pupils of Tenby Schools (St. Teilo's Primary School, Tenby Junior School and Tenby Infants School), based on a competition organised by the museum and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tenby. The museum staff and the sponsors have been thrilled at the response; over 100 children have submitted work of a very high standard in a variety of subject categories that include: paintings, drawings, collages, sculptures/models, poems, descriptions and stories. The judges for the competition were artists Colin Lewis, Tina Lewis, Doug Perry and president of the Rotary Club of Tenby, Mr. Stephen Kelly, representing the sponsors. The exhibition displays the work of all the children who entered the competition and is being held in the museum's New Art Gallery. Competition prizes will be distributed to each school at assemblies early in the summer term. The prizes in each category will be shared equally between the children and their schools. Additional prizes have been donated by the Tenby Civic Society and Mrs. Val Coates-Rees. And what was the most popular part of Tenby as illustrated in the children's work? The favourite parts of Tenby were very diverse and included subjects such as the children's own gardens, play areas, shops, streets, historic houses and churches, the cinema, the leisure centre and Caldey Island. But by far the best loved areas were the beaches with all the many pleasures that they offer. 'My Favourite Part of Town' will be open every day (including weekends) until March 27 (10 am - 5 pm, last admission 4.30 pm).
