Take a look at this black and white photograph from 1983? Recognise anyone? Centre is Rev. Mike Brotherton, of Angle, who has returned to the streets of Pembroke Dock on his trusty scooter after 35 years.
It is well over 34 years since the famous Servetta/Lambretta scooter ‘boy about town’ graced the local streets of Pembroke Dock.
Back then, Mike was the local parish curate, but in 1984, he joined the Royal Navy as a chaplain, and he actually drove from Pembroke Dock to HMS Collingwood on the scooter - a journey of nine long hours!
These days, his scooter has just undergone a refit and overhaul by Johnny Boss in Pier Road’s ‘Poco Loco.’
Mike has known Johnny for many years and cannot thank him enough for all his help and support.
“Johnny is a top man in Pembrokeshire when it comes to scooters,” says Mike. “He is a most skilled and dedicated engineer. His work is admired by many throughout the UK and his skills are a credit to Pembroke Dock.”
And he added: “I am a great scooter enthusiast. I have three scooters and they have played a big part in my life. I now ride them for pleasure and it was extremely nostalgic returning to Meyrick Street with Martin Cavaney to take an up-to-date photograph.”
