The four day ‘Angel Festival’ at Carew Wesley Chapel did indeed see the angels arrive.

The competition exhibits were displayed around the outside of the chapel and many could be seen by passers- by.

The winner of the best angel, which was voted for by those who attended the event, went to Pisgah Sunday School.

The children’s Poster Competition winners were: Under 7s - 1st Caitlin; 2nd Ava and 3rd Marie Beth with the winning school being Sageston; Age 8 and over - 1st Courtney; 2nd Jasmine and 3rd Maisie with the winning school being Sageston.

Inside the chapel the seven Archangels - Barachiel, chief of all the guardian angels; Gabriel, known for his announcement of the birth of Jesus to Mary; Jegudiel, ‘Glorifier of God’; Michael, Patron of Righteousness, Mercy and Justice; Raphael, the healing angel; Selaphiel, the angel of prayer; and finally Uriel, the angel of wisdom - were depicted in flowers.

These were arranged by various people and organisations and there were some further exhibits with an angel theme by other organisations within the community.

Part of the School Room was laid out as a Prayer space with different activities from making prayer chains to sticking ‘smiley faces’ on a World Map and also where the children were able to enjoy colouring in an Activity Sheet.

In the Hall refreshments were served throughout the festival by a welcoming team of volunteers. A speciality being the bacon butties served on the Saturday morning - not to be missed! When you had had your fill it was possible to purchase a bargain at Aunty June’s stall. The knitted angels being one of the special items, kindly made by ladies from Hook.

These four successful days came to an appropriate ending with a marvellous and moving Songs of Praise chaired by Mr. Stuart Treharne with the address given by Rev. Lorette Hinson.

All with the angel theme in mind hymns were rousingly sung such as ’Angels from the Realms of Glory’ and ’Angel voices ever singing’ finishing with the Charles Wesley hymn ’And can it be’. People stood outside the chapel to listen to the wonderful singing as it was full to overflowing.

The organisers wish to thank once again all who worked so hard over many weeks to ensure the festival’s success and to all who supported this new venture.

We are grateful to all for the large sum that has been raised for the Chapel funds.

On Sunday evening at 6 pm, Graham and Jane Hobbs will lead a service of Prayer and Praise on the theme of Music.

Please remember all those in our community who have lost a relative at this time. May God’s Love and Peace be with each family.

We also think of those who are alone or in any kind of need and will keep them in our prayers, not forgetting anyone who is ill, particularly those who are in hospital.

Please also pray for Chapel members and friends, especially praying for all those on our Prayer List.

A warm welcome is extended to all in our community, and also to those visiting the county, who wish to come along to any of the services or events.
