Local individuals, groups and companies who have made a significant difference to peoples lives within the county have been honoured by Pembrokeshire County Council chairman, Clr. Wynne Evans.
Clr. Evans, together with Phil Thompson and Clr. Phil Baker, hosted the event at County Hall, Haverfordwest, on Monday evening.
“It was a wonderful evening which celebrated the hardwork and dedication of many people from very varied backgrounds, but who all in their own way contribute to the life of Pembrokeshire,” said Clr. Evans.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to South Hook LNG for their sponsorship of Crucial Crew, Rev. Geoffrey Eynon for Wolfscastle in Bloom, Martin Cavaney, for his photography of local events and work as trustee of the Sunderland Trust, Valero Volunteers for their contribution to community projects and events, Burns Pet Nutrition for the Burns By Your Side schools initiative, Major Mark Wilford, community liaison officer with 14 Signal Brawdy for their community support, the Tenby Observer for publicising community events, Milford Haven Port Authority for Pembrokeshire Fish Festival, Ben Richards for his contribution to music in the county, Chris Ebsworth, of Folly Farm, for hosting charitable events, Martyn Williams, of Saundersfoot Festivities, organisers of the Saundersfoot New Year’s Day Swim, Paul Martin for his support of Pembrokeshire events, Christine Evans, founder member of the Paul Sartori Foundation, Paul Rapi, retired head of music at Greenhill School, Tenby, for his contribution to music in the county, and John Brock MBE for his work with Carew Control Tower and the Wings over Carew event.
“It was an outstanding evening,” added Clr. Evans, “particularly as none of the recipients knew anything of the awards until they were announced.”
