Pictured receiving items valued £1,000 from Sue and John Shaw, of Sageston, recently are the Sister, staff nurses and members of staff on Ward 10, Withybush Hospital.
The items were purchased by money raised in memory of Sue's dad, Doug Bottomley, who passed away suddenly on April 22 this year.
"On behalf of my mom Daisy, John and myself, I would like to thank everyone who sent in donations in memory of my dad for this very worthwhile cause. Everyone is affected in some way by cancer, whether it be directly or indirectly, even just knowing a friend who has it, and we have to make it more bearable for the patients and relatives when they come onto the ward," said Sue.
"The ward clerk and Sister gave us a shopping list to choose from and we were only too happy to be able to purchase everything on the list," added Sue.
"My dad was a member of the Cresselly branch of the RBL and it seemed appropriate that the new crockery and tea tray for the relatives room should have the design of the 'Poppy' on it and we would like to thank Vincent Davies, Haverfordwest, for their help in purchasing these items, together with two new design Dyson upright free-standing fans, for which we would like to thank Vaughan's, of Haverfordwest, and gift vouchers for Tesco and Boots so as staff are able to provide items for patients when they require them, plus some 'goodies' in the way of chocolates, biscuits and plenty of hot drinks and supplies for the ward kitchen for all the staff and doctors to enjoy on Ward 10.
"We just wanted to say a very big 'thank you' to everyone who helped look after my Dad in his last days and hopefully these items will help other patients and relatives in the future."
