AFTER three years of campaigning to allow bus passes to be used on train services between Pembroke Dock and Carmarthen, South Pembrokeshire Rail Action Group (SPRAG) has received a disappointing final reply from Transport for Wales.
The Welsh Concessionary Travel Card is valid for free travel on a number of rail lines in Wales. TfW explained that it inherited the current situation from Arriva Trains Wales, and no additional funding is available to extend the scheme.
In South Pembrokeshire, where there are no bus services after 7pm and no services at all on Sunday, SPRAG believes that “allowing Concessionary Travel Cards to be used on local train services would greatly benefit the local economy, social and educational activities and wellbeing.”
