After last week's great start to the league, Pembroke County hockey team travelled to UWIC Cardiff for a tester of their squad with some key players missing.
The game started at the expected fast pace, with chances going both ways. The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when a hopefully drilled ball into the D hit a Cardiff stick and deflected into the Pembroke net.
Quickly after, a short corner awarded to Cardiff resulted in the second, with a precise drag flick leaving the Pembroke county 'keeper no chance. He saw more of the third as a Cardiff reverse strike came off his pads and into the net.
Three-nil at half-time and a mountain to climb. Pembroke County made some formation changes. The changes made a difference and County began to dominate play, but failed to convert the chances that fell.
With 10 minutes left, Pembroke County scored through Alex Alderwick, but it only proved to be a consolation and the score ended 3-1.
Pembroke County play this Saturday at Sir Thomas Picton School against Gwent at 12.30. All are welcome to go and watch.
