A Pembrokeshire luxury bed and breakfast business has been awarded the Visit Wales Gold Award for the 10th successive year. Economy Secretary, Ken Skates visited Canaston Oaks to congratulate the owners on a decade of excellence.
Five-star Canaston Oaks, near Canaston Bridge, which prides itself on consistently delivering beyond the expectation of guests, received the accolade once again for providing visitors with the highest standards of quality, comfort and hospitality.
The sought-after Visit Wales Gold Award is only granted to a limited number of bed and breakfast businesses, guest houses and hotels, with 10-bedroom Canaston Oaks receiving the award in every year since it opened a decade ago.
The Economy Secretary, said: “The gold award winners are examples of accommodation businesses that are setting an exceptionally high benchmark of quality and exceed customer expectation in all respects - and to have had the award for the 10th year is no mean feat. It is a testimony to the hard work of the owners and their commitment to quality - I’d like to wish them every success for the next decade.
“We always get excellent feedback from our guests and have a very high occupancy rate so we know we are getting it right, but it is thrilling and an honour to have this recognised by Visit Wales,’’ said Eleanor Lewis, who runs the business with her husband, David, and their daughter, Emma Millership.
The family established the business as a farm diversification 10 years ago.
“This started out as a dream of converting some very poor farm buildings into something habitable,’’ says Mr. Lewis, whose family had farmed the 200-acre farm for many years.
“Initially we did think of self-catering, but as the plans were drawn we liked the idea of living here ourselves and diversifying from farming so the idea of serviced accommodation was born.’’
The family’s approach has always been to provide the highest quality visitor experience.
Serving a superior breakfast, cooked by chef, Hafwen Griffiths, is also key.
“We source as much as we can locally because the quality of the food produced in Pembrokeshire is second to none. It’s about giving the best to our customers and supporting local businesses,’’ says Emma.
The business, which is currently enjoying the top Trip Advisor ratings spot among 351 bed and breakfast providers in Pembrokeshire, keeps on growing. This year, scrumptious afternoon teas will be available to the wider public and must be booked in advance.
