Tomorrow (Tuesday, February 21), is the seventh year for our annual pancake races in Tudor Square, Tenby.
As ever we will be gathering from 11 am with a registration table in front of the Baytree Restaurant. Due to shear enthusiasm we had an excess of entrants for the six-12 years race and chose to divide the group, creating an additional race. Let’s hope that we a similar turnout for this years event.
With all proceeds going to Tenby’s RNLI, this is a family fun event for one of the most worthy causes in our area.
Races will be five years and under, six to 12 years, men’s/chefs, women, and the ever entertaining crew race.
To enter the race, we request a £3 fee per person donated to Tenby’s RNLI. The winners of each race will receive a prize that has been kindly donated by local businesses, from a tour of the lifeboat station, a cake from Katrina Russell to a photo print taken by and donated by David Bolton. Not forgetting the infamous t-shirt sponsored by Tees-R-Us for ‘Tenby’s Number 1 Tosser.’
Stormy Stan will be on hand for photo opportunities, and a little mischief in the crew race (as in past years he has been seen trying to catch others out on the line). Keep that smile on your face as your racing as Gareth Davies Photography will there to catch it all on camera for the press.
This year, there is one small change; the pancake dinner will now be a tw- course Pancake lunch, between 1 and 2 pm, held at the Fourcroft Hotel, North Beach. Tickets can be purchased from Dales Music Shop on the High Street or from Fourcroft Hotel directly. £12 per person is a real deal for the culinary delights provided by Fourcroft’s head chef Sam Askew.
Remember: Tuesday, February 21, 12 pm first race starts, 1 pm lunch at Fourcroft Hotel.
