As the result of new ownership at The Albany Hotel in The Norton, Tenby, the oldest licensed premises in the town, The White Hart Bar, has recently been refurbished, revamped and re-opened. New proprietors Steve and Bonnie Wilson took over the hotel back in March, having previously run The Dolphin Inn in Mid Wales, and now they are delighted to have the chance to ply their trade in Tenby. "We're looking forward to making a huge success of the place and planning to refurbish and develop parts of the hotel even further, now that we have completed the work to the bar," said Steve. Indeed, Steve is very proud of the historic side of The White Hart Bar and thrilled to be able to re-open it to the public after all these years. "When we took over the hotel, we thought that it was a great shame that a bar with such a great history in Tenby had been shut and derelict for over five years, so we set about totally refurbishing it and are now proud to re-open it and call it The White Hart," explained Steve. The White Hart, which is open to non-residents as well as guests of the hotel, is an ideal place for locals to pop in to enjoy a drink or indeed a bite to eat, as a selection of bar meals and standard three-course meals will soon be available to customers. As well as the usual choice of beers, lagers, spirits, wines and alcopops from the well-stocked bar, the unique state-of-the-art entertainment system at The White Hart offers pub-goers top enjoyment as part of their night out, whether with a small group of friends or with a larger party. "I think people who come along to the bar will certainly enjoy the entertainment system and will be pleasantly surprised by the choice of music and fun games it has to offer," said Steve. The 'entertainer pro' system can not only act as a standard music jukebox and video jukebox, playing everything from current hits to all the chart number ones dating back to 1953, but also as a karaoke machine, with song lyrics brought up on screen. The system also has a choice of interactive games, that can all be screened on the many televisions around the bar, including pub quizzes, cards and bingo - with a choice of humorous celebrity number callers, ranging from impressions of the legendary Michael Caine to the hilarious risque comedy of Roy Chubby Brown. The 'entertainment pro' system also has the facility to screen pretend horse and dog races, an idea which Steve thinks would go down a storm as part of an organised charity night, with everyone able to join in the fun. "We're looking to put on a charity night on Saturday, September 25, in aid of Air Ambulance Wales, so anyone who would like to get involved can contact me and hopefully we can sort out the arrangements and organise an eventful evening," revealed Steve, who hopes to raise around £1,000 on the night for the charity. "We'd also love to hear from anybody else interested in putting on a charity night in aid of a local worthwhile cause, as it's all a bit of fun and we're very keen on giving something back to the local community," he continued. As well as the entertainment system, The White Hart also provides live entertainment two to three nights a week, and can also be booked for small functions. The White Hart is open Monday to Friday from 6 pm onwards, and all day on Saturday and Sunday. For all enquiries regarding The Albany Hotel and The White Hart, 'phone 01834 842698.
