Tenby Youth entertained Llangwm Youth on a crisp sunny morning before the Wales v Italy international last Saturday.
Tenby began the match at a fast pace, with forwards and backs handling well. Before Llangwm had time to settle, they had run in three quick tires, scored by James Davies, Scott McLaughlin and Rhydian Rees; Scott converted one try.
Thinking that the match was already won, Tenby became careless and allowed Llangwm to snatch a try from a tap penalty. This seemed to re-awaken the home team, who dominated the rest of the match.
Further first-half tries were scored by Daniel Shooter, Scott McLaughlin, Damian Keight, Jason Keight, William Crockford and Robert James (capt.). McLaughlin converted all the tries for a half-time score of 55-8.
With Tenby making a number of substitutions, the second-half was not quite as fluent as the first. Llangwm tackled much better and made more of a game of it.
Tenby, however, still proved dominant, running in more tries to make a total of 14. Scorers were: Robert James (2), Scott McLaughlin, Thomas Lewis and Harry Bolton. McLaughlin converted two and Harry Bolton one.
Many thanks to the Llangwm team for the spirited effort which kept them fighting until the final whistle.
