A project aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour in and Tenby is coming to a close.

Greater Heights, a project funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner Wales, which aims to improve the image the public may have of young people, finishes on March 30 with an art exhibition at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery

The ‘Young People in the Community’ exhibition demonstrates what it’s like to be a young person in today’s society and will show how they feel they are perceived by the public.

The skills they have developed over the duration of the project will help go towards an Agored Cymru ‘Young People in the Community accreditation.’

The project has been hailed a success so far as young people who have voluntarily engaged on the project have had the opportunity to experience new activities and sports, go on group outings such as Escape Rooms, Heatherton, and paintballing and to be active citizens in their community.

Recently, Greater Heights had a games night with local Police Community Support Officers to help bridge the gap between services and generations within the community.

Social evening

Over half-term, Tenby Youth Club and Tenby Youth Forum members hosted a social evening for Tenby’s Gateway Club, a social club managed by volunteers for members with special needs.

Members thought it would be beneficial to build relationships with other people in the community and help break down social barriers.

The night consisted of various activities organised and run by the young people; activities included football, art and pool.

The young people took the opportunity to consult with Gateway members, with the aim of obtaining information for a funding bid Tenby Youth Forum want to submit to Youth Bank to host a ball for the Gateway Club in the summer.

Tenby Youth Club and Forum are always looking for new members, so if you would like to be an active part of your community, Youth Forum is held on a Tuesday, fortnightly 4-5.30 pm, at Tenby Youth Centre and Youth Club is run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 7-9 pm. All sessions are free.
