Tenby has once again enjoyed success at the annual Wales in Bloom competition by retaining its title as best 'small country town' - the 25th time the seaside resort has taken the crown.

"Once again, we're thrilled with the achievement for our town," said Mayor of Tenby and chairman of the Tenby in Bloom committee, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.

"On behalf of the whole of the Tenby in Bloom committee and the town council, I would like to thank all those that have contributed so well once again," she continued.

"The town's gardens are looking superb, better than ever, and it's all down to the hard work of Pembrokeshire County Council's gardening, cleansing and maintenance team. The boys have really done themselves proud this year."

With Tenby itself hosting this year's awards ceremony on Friday, September 18, Wales in Bloom chairman John Woods was in town last week to finalise arrangements for the event.

"I took the chairman on a walkabout of the town and he was most impressed and thought the town's floral display's were of the highest standard," added Clr. Mrs. Lane.

Others from the town named amongst the awards included the Giltar Hotel on The Esplanade, which came second in the 'hotels, guest houses, public houses and restaurants frontage' section, while Well Park Caravans earned a merit in the 'caravans, camping and holiday homes under 100 units' category.
