IN Tenby on Sunday, March 28, there is a fund-raising Walk for Life for the charity Kidney Wales Foundation. It is part of a series of similar events all over Wales on that day to raise money for kidney patients and their families in Wales.

The walk starts from the Tenby Leisure Centre at 12 noon and takes in all of Tenby's sights and both beaches. It is not a strenuous walk, so it is suitable for most ages and abilities. Refreshments and snacks will be provided, kindly donated by Tesco's in Pembroke Dock

Rosie Swale Pope MBE will also be supporting the walk by starting them off. Rosie will be taking her Icebird along with her en route,

Rosie said: "I am very proud to support the Walk for Life for Kidney Wales Foundation and I really admire all that the team are doing for the charity and I look forward to attending on March 28."

Other events that are happening to raise money for the cause are a grand raffle and disco to be drawn on Saturday, March 27, at the Castle Inn, Manorbier. Raffle prizes include a signed Ospreys rugby shirt, a signed DVD from Rhod Gilbert and Sunday lunch for two at the Giltar Hotel, Tenby, plus many more excellent prizes. Tickets are on sale now.

Also on the day of the walk there is a sponsored zapcat trip from Cardiff to Tenby consisting of two zapcats and two support boats to coincide with the walk across the beach. On Friday, March 26, at Tescos in Pembroke Dock, members of Manorbier United football team will be taking part in a sponsored run on a running machine for the day.

The event is organised by Rob Thomas from Pembroke Dock, who has recently been diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease, which is the most common inherited life-threatening condition, and is keen to try and raise as much money for the Kidney Wales Foundation and to raise awareness for the Donate Wales initiative.

As the Tenby event organiser, he said: "The event is the first of its kind in Tenby and is part of a national campaign to raise money for the Kidney Wales Foundation. We welcome anyone on the walk which will be a great way to raise money. You can obtain sponsor forms from Tenby Leisure Centre or from myself on 01646 687799 or see our website http://www.tenbywalkforlife.co.uk">www.tenbywalkforlife.co.uk and facebook page."

Roy J. Thomas, executive chairman, Kidney Wales Foundation, said: "The residents of Pembrokeshire have shown fantastic support for the charity. This will help raise awareness and the vital funds needed for equipment, research, treatment and support for kidney patients and their families across Wales."
