Businesses in Tenby who believe they have suffered from street works that have frequently disrupted the town centre, submitted a group rate appeal to the Welsh Assembly Government this week.

Business owners in the town contacted the commercial rates department in Carmarthen towards the end of last year to notify them of the disruption, with the intention of submitting an appeal for rate relief to help compensate for the enormous losses they say they have encountered during the works, listing dates and figures to prove the negative impact these periods of street works have had on their trade.

Traders have also received support from local MP Simon Hart and AM Angela Burns.

"Thirty-seven businesses in the town have submitted a group rate appeal under the umbrella of Tenby Chamber of Trade and Tourism," said Dewi Davies, of Jago, which is located on the town's Tudor Square.
