With Tenby in Bloom re-launching its annual schools’ sunflower competition recently, some of the results proved to be spectacular!
Originally organised by Tenby Playgroup, the Tenby in Bloom committee took over the running of the popular competition a number of years ago and went out and about earlier this year, dropping off seeds, pots and compost at Tenby Primary, Hafan-y-Mor and St Teilos schools so the children could take part.
The competition was open to all playgroup age children with the winner receiving the Tracy Hartland Memorial Trophy. This year the award went to Harper Baker of Tiny Treasures at Tenby Primary School.
Children were encouraged to grow their sunflowers at home during the summer months and then return photographs to the schools by the beginning of September for judging by the Bloom committee.
“Thanks goes to all three schools for entering,” said Tenby in Bloom chair Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is seen with fellow Tenby in Bloom committee member Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter; Tenby Primary head John Palmer; Rebecca Dilks of Tiny Treasures; along with overall winner Harper and her mum Lily; as well as other children that took part.
