Pembrokeshire’s County Council is again flushed with success after its public toilets dominated the annual Loo of the Year Awards.

For the fourth successive year the county’s public loos have finished top of the ‘Premier League’ of the UK’s public conveniences, meaning they retain their ‘Champions League’ status.

Danfo UK Limited - which cleans and maintains the Council-owned toilets – scooped a number of awards and picked up the overall UK Trophy Winners prize.

Their haul included awards for two public toilets in Tenby – at the multi-storey car park and at The Green (Salterns) which won for the second year running

Overall the number of toilets awarded the highest accolade, platinum, stayed the same as last year – six but the number achieving gold status increased from 58 to 60.

Each toilet was visited and inspected by a representative of the Loo of the Year organisation and judged with the outcome based on a grading system.

“We are delighted with the results of this year’s awards. We recognise the importance of these facilities and are proud to provide so many toilets of a high standard” said the Authority’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, Public Protection and Welsh Language, Councillor Cris Tomos.
